Which Nioxin System Kit is for Me? Post Chemotherapy Hair Success

Which Nioxin System Kit is for Me?

Hair thinning can be caused by different factors so naturally there isn’t a ‘one size fits all’ treatment that will be effective for everyone. This is why we’ve formulated the Nioxin System Kits to address different hair concerns as well as help hair with different stages of thinning.

Each kit contains three products designed to create the foundation for thicker, fuller hair by targeting the signs of thinning. The cleanser helps remove sebum that might be clogging the hair follicles or any environmental residues from the scalp and the hair. The conditioner will then provide resilience to the hair against breakage and control the moisture balance. The final step, the scalp treatment, is formulated to make the hair thicker and fuller-looking.

Light Thinning vs Progressed Thinning Hair

Our system kits are formulated to address two stages of hair thinning: light and progressed. Differentiating between the two is quite simple because when the thinning has progressed you can easily see it. Take a close look at your scalp and try to assess the hair density: if you have light thinning you will have more hair strands per square centimetre rather than when you have progressed thinning. The image below is a great way to understand hair density.

Thinning also appears differently for women and men. Thinning for men will start at the crown area or they might see a receding hairline. For women, thinning will be noticeable at the parting.

Which System Kit to Use Based on Hair Type

Once you’ve figured out how much thinning you have, you will have to find the right System Kit based on your hair type. We’ve split our system kits in three different types based on hair type and the level of moisture it needs:

  • Natural hair, that needs low levels of moisture
  • Coloured hair that needs a moderate amount of moisture
  • Chemically treated hair, that needs intense moisture

Let’s break it down.

System Kits for Natural Hair

Natural hair is hair that has not been coloured, or its texture has not been changed through a chemical treatment such as perming, straightening or bleaching. This type of hair will have different needs than hair that’s been coloured for example. System Kit 1 and System Kit 2 are formulated with light conditioning agents that provide light moisture.
Both cleansers for natural hair have Activ-Renewal technology, a blend of white tea extract, peppermint oil and cleansing agents, that helps to remove follicle-clogging sebum, fatty acids and environmental residue from the scalp and the hair.

System Kits for Coloured Hair

Just like skin, hair also needs moisture otherwise it becomes straw-like, limp and can lead to breakage. After colouring, the hair becomes drier so it needs special care. System Kit 3 and System Kit 4 are created specifically to address coloured hair needs and deliver more moisture.
The cleansers are formulated with Pro-Color Shield technology that cleanses the scalp and the hair whilst providing colour protection. It contains white tea extract, humectants, peppermint oil and protective conditioning agents.

System Kits for Chemically Treated Hair

Hair that’s been chemically treated to change its texture, through permanent straightening, perming or bleaching, is prone to damage and severe dryness. So if you have been chemically treating your hair and are suffering with thinning, the right kit for you is either System Kit 5 or System Kit 6 (depending on how advanced your thinning is).
Both kits are formulated to deliver intense moisture to very dry and damaged hair. The conditioners from these kits contain Smooth Plex technology that not only helps with moisture balance but also provides smoothing control, through the blend of silk amino acids, kukui nut oil and protective conditioning agents. If your hair is also coloured, the kits will protect your colour against fading too.
